Prairie Area Reading Council will be hosting the 2026 Illinois Reads Sneak Peek at Anderson's Bookshop. Everyone is invited! Authors will be sharing their book followed by autographing.

Thursday, March 12, 2026

Plan now to attend the Illinois Reads Author Panels at the 2026 IRC Conference! Featured authors will be from the 2026 Illinois Reads Books! There are four panels planned during the conference. Come participate in this exciting chance to meet and greet Illinois Reads authors as they share the inspiration for their stories and current projects they are working on, and ask questions you’ve been anxious to know about your favorite characters. Following the sessions, authors will also be autographing their books in the Exhibit Hall at the Bank of Springfield Center. Books will also be available for purchase in the exhibit hall.

Saturday, April 25, 2026

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the Illinois Reading Council is planning to hold the Illinois Reads and Young Authors Book Festival from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at National Teachers Academy in Chicago, Illinois. Plan now to bring your families, students, and all book lovers to this fun and free event. Many authors will be present. Bring your books and have them signed at this event! Books will also be available for purchase from Anderson’s Bookshops. More information will be available soon.

Illinois Reads has partnered with the Illinois Secretary of State and the Illinois Center for the Book at the Illinois State Library to promote the 2026 Family Reading Night. Family Reading Night is an annual statewide event held the third Thursday in November to encourage families to spend quality time reading together. Each year, posters and bookmarks are made available for libraries, schools, youth and literacy organizations to promote their Family Reading Night Program. Plan now to create a Family Reading Night program in your area. For more information, visit the Family Reading Night webpage.
